What Ujjwala covers
Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, an adult woman from an eligible household gets a new LPG connection free: the government pays the security deposit, and the package includes the first refill and a free hotplate. On top of that, Ujjwala beneficiaries get a targeted subsidy on refills (₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills a year under the current extension), credited straight to the bank account.
Who is eligible
- Adult woman (18+) from a household with no LPG connection in any member's name
- Household in an eligible category: SECC-2011 listed, SC/ST, PMAY (G) beneficiary, Antyodaya, most-backward classes, tea-garden or ex-tea-garden tribes, river-island/forest dwellers — or any poor household with a self-declaration under Ujjwala 2.0
- KYC: Aadhaar of the woman, ration card or family-composition proof, bank account
How to apply
- Choose your gas company (Indane / HP / Bharat) and either visit the nearest distributor or fill the online form at pmuy.gov.in.
- Submit Aadhaar, ration card/family proof, bank details and the self-declaration; migrant families can use a simple address self-declaration instead of address proof.
- The connection is installed after verification — usually within days.
