Why this matters now
Under NFSA, every person named on a ration card must complete Aadhaar e-KYC. States have run repeated deadline extensions, and after each one, members with pending e-KYC start getting suspended from the card — the family then receives grain for fewer members. Children added years ago, married daughters, and elderly members are the names most often still pending.
How to complete e-KYC (any of these)
- Visit any ration shop with Aadhaar — the dealer authenticates each member by fingerprint on the ePoS machine (works anywhere in India, not just your own shop).
- Use the Mera KYC + AadhaarFaceRD apps on a smartphone: enter Aadhaar, OTP, then face authentication — good for elderly members whose fingerprints fail.
- For members whose fingerprints and face both fail, ask the food department for IRIS-based e-KYC at the office.
If e-KYC keeps failing
A failed e-KYC almost always means the Aadhaar details (name/DOB) differ from the ration-card record, or the Aadhaar biometric itself is outdated. Fix the mismatched record first — update Aadhaar biometrics at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or correct the member entry on the state food portal — then repeat the e-KYC.
