How to add a child's name to a birth certificate in Haryana
Most hospital births are registered before the baby is named, so the first certificate has no name. In Haryana the name can be added free within 12 months of registration, and for ₹50 after that. The request goes to the registrar through Saral or the local registration office, with the parents' ID. A NeedUp operator can file it and send you the new certificate.
New rule for very late registration (from 1 October 2026)
Parliament passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act in August 2026, reported to take effect on 1 October 2026. Registering a birth 1–2 years late will need an order from the DM, SDM or Executive Magistrate, and more than 2 years late will need an order from a Judicial Magistrate First Class. If a birth in your family is still unregistered, it is easier to do it before then.
